In Touching Lives, Sickle Cell Advocacy And Management Have Reached A Milestone

Sickle Cell Advocacy and Management Initiative (SAMI), a non-governmental organization celebrated its 10th anniversary. The foundation was instituted in 2008 by Toyin Adesola, a 53 years old survivor herself. Over the years the NGO has been championing the cause of people living with sickle cell disorder. Some of their activities include free monthly clinics where drugs are given out, medical consultations offered, training, and advocacy campaigns.

According to the Chairman of SAMI, Foluso Philips, ‘’The organization has reached a milestone and we sincerely want to appreciate the generous donations and support shown to SAMI. We have come this far by the grace of God and the immense support of our wonderful partners, who have thrown their weight behind SAMI’s effort’’.

The anniversary celebration which doubled as a fund raising dinner received dignitaries which include; the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Former Governor of Cross River, Donald Duke; Founder of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia; Chairman of SAMI, Foluso Philips; CEO of SystemSpecs, John Obaro; CEO of Dangote Foundation, Zouera Youssoufou and Managing Partner at Olaniwun Ajayi LLP, Prof. Koyin Ajaji, SAN amongst others.

The event recognized Corporate and individuals who have supported the cause over the years which include; SystemSpec, Dangote Foundation, DKK Nigeria, Fidelity Bank, Philips Consultants among others. With the fund raised, SAMI will continue in her drive to improve the life’s of those living with Sickle Cell disorder.

Dkk Nigeria was one of the recipients of the Recognition Award for it’s contribution and support to the SAMI organization. The award was presented to the Chief Operation Officer, DKK Nigeria, Folabomi Salami by Founder of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia.
